When your computer turns on, do you really know what it’s doing? It may seem like it’s taking a long time, too, and you’re not sure whether that’s good or bad – but it’s probably frustrating because it keeps you from getting started quickly. Whatever you planned to do when you turned your computer on, you don’t want to have to wait all day to do it. Once you’ve gotten started, a slow-running computer can also be very annoying and keep you from completing your work or finding the information that you were looking for.
The good news is that you can find a ways to make your computer more efficient and help it boot up as quickly as possible. Some computers simply boot up more slowly than others do, but if there are programs running at start up that you don’t need, you can turn them off. The fewer programs that begin at start up, the faster your computer will get moving – just be sure you know what you’re turning off. You don’t want to stop your computer from working properly just because you’re trying to save a few seconds.
Keeping your computer clean, running a disk defragmenter, and ensuring that you remove old files that you aren’t using can also help your computer run faster during its everyday use. You don’t need to delete all kinds of things off of it, but you can clear your cookies and your temporary files, remove programs that you don’t need or want, and keep it from searching through a fragmented disk because you never run a defragmenting program. Simple things will keep your computer running well. If you’re not sure how to implement these kinds of changes, be sure that you find someone who is to help you. That’s a much better choice than making a mistake that might harm your computer.
